Effective Date: 9/1/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Burlington Bank Card collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about visitors to www.burlingtonbankcard.com (the “Site”). It applies to information collected through the Site and through telephone and email inquiries that begin on the Site. It does not cover information provided during a merchant application or under an established merchant account, which is addressed in Section 8.
Use of the Site indicates acceptance of this policy.
1. Information We Collect
The Site includes a quote request form. Submitting that form, or contacting Burlington Bank Card by telephone or email, provides business name, first and last name, telephone number, email address, whether the business currently accepts credit cards, monthly sales volume range, product or service of interest, and any comments entered.
Web servers and analytics tools also record IP address, approximate location at the city or region level, browser type, operating system, device type, pages viewed, referring page, and dates and times of access.
Precise location is not collected. Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and payment card numbers are not collected through the Site.
2. Cookies and Tracking
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies, including tags delivered through Google Tag Manager, to load pages and forms, to measure how visitors reach and move through the Site, and to measure advertising performance.
Most browsers accept cookies by default and allow visitors to refuse or delete them through browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working. Advertising cookies may also be controlled through the industry opt-out pages at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
Burlington Bank Card recognizes the Global Privacy Control and similar opt-out preference signals sent by a browser or extension, and treats a recognized signal as an opt-out request for that browser and device.
3. How We Use Information
Information collected through the Site is used to respond to inquiries, prepare pricing proposals, recommend payment processing products, operate and improve the Site, measure how visitors use the Site, send marketing communications to those who request them or hold an existing business relationship, prevent fraud and security incidents, and comply with legal obligations.
Information collected through the Site is not used to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. How We Share Information
Burlington Bank Card does not sell personal information in exchange for money, and does not disclose it to unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing. Information is shared only as follows.
- Service providers that host the Site, deliver and store form submissions, provide email and telephone service, and supply analytics. These providers may use the information only to perform services for Burlington Bank Card.
- Sponsoring processors and product partners, including Elavon, Square, and SpotOn, where a visitor requests pricing or a product those partners supply. Each partner handles what it receives under its own privacy notice.
- Professional advisors, government authorities, and courts, where required by law or legal process or to establish or defend legal claims.
- An acquirer or successor in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Some state privacy laws define “sale” and “sharing” broadly enough to include the disclosure of online identifiers to analytics and advertising providers. Under those definitions, the advertising and analytics technologies on the Site may constitute sharing. Section 5 describes how to opt out.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on state of residence, visitors may have the right to confirm what personal information Burlington Bank Card holds about them and access it, obtain a portable copy, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and receive equal service after exercising a right.
Requests may be submitted using the contact details in Section 10. A “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link appears in the footer of every page and submits an opt-out request directly. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link.
Identity is verified before a request is fulfilled, ordinarily by matching the request against information already held. Requests are answered within forty-five days, with one extension of forty-five days where reasonably necessary and where notice is given. A request that is denied may be appealed by replying to the denial, and appeals are answered in writing within sixty days.
An authorized agent may submit a request on behalf of a resident, subject to written authorization and verification of the resident identity.
6. Data Retention and Security
Inquiry records are retained for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of the business relationship, and thereafter as required by tax, accounting, and other legal obligations. Analytics records are retained according to the settings of the analytics provider.
Burlington Bank Card maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information collected through the Site, including encrypted transmission of form submissions and access controls on inquiry records. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and Burlington Bank Card cannot warrant the security of information transmitted to the Site.
Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and payment card numbers should not be sent through the Site form or by unencrypted email. Those details should be provided only through the secure channels identified during a merchant application.
7. Children
The Site is directed to business owners and operators. Burlington Bank Card does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may contact Burlington Bank Card using the details in Section 10, and the information will be deleted.
8. Merchant Applications and Accounts
A visitor who proceeds from a quote request to a merchant application provides additional information, which may include Social Security number, employer identification number, bank account details, and personal financial history. That information is collected through the application systems of the sponsoring processor rather than through the Site.
Handling of that information is governed by the merchant agreement, the privacy notice of the sponsoring processor, and the requirements applicable to financial institutions under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. The applicable notices are provided during the application process.
9. Third-Party Sites
The Site links to and embeds content from third parties, including Elavon, Square, and SpotOn. This policy does not apply to those services. Visitors should review the privacy notice of each third party before providing information to it.
10. Changes and Contact
This policy is revised as practices and legal requirements change. A revised policy is posted on this page with an updated Effective Date. A change that materially affects how previously collected information is used will be communicated by notice on the Site before it takes effect.
Questions about this policy, and requests to exercise privacy rights, may be directed to the following.
